About Ali Candaş
Ali Candaş was born in 1940 in Beşikdüzü – Trabzon. His talent on the painting was discovered in Erzurum – Ilıca Pulur Village Institute and he was sent to the Istanbul – Çapa Teachers’ School Painting Seminar. In 1959, he started education in the Department of Painting in Ankara – Gazi Education Institute. In 1962 he started to work as a painting teacher at Urfa Teachers’ School and he worked respectively at Trabzon Secondary School, Ordu Teachers’ School. Çapa Teachers’ School. Between 1982 and 2000 he was the professor of photography at the Atatürk Faculty of Education of Marmara University. In 2000, he started teaching graphic as a professor and retired voluntarily in 2006.
He had around 80 solo exhibitions in painting and participated in about 170 group exhibitions. He had 6 awards. He had 4 personal exhibitions in the field of photography. He still continues his works on painting and photography in his workshop in Kadıköy – İstanbul.
The years he spent on Perşembe (formerly Vona) led Candaş to say:
“If they keep me obligatory and they say; ‘You should live somewhere in Anatolia I would choose Vona without any hesitation’.”
