Deadline for Registration with VERBİS Has Been Extended

Deadline for registration with VERBİS has been extended to 31.12.2019

The deadline for registration with verbis has been extended to 31.12.2019. According to the Personal Data Protection Regulation, data controllers, including the ones not residing and not been established in Turkey, will have to register to the Data Registry system called verbis. Please note that foreign data controllers who process personal data of Turkish citizens, regardless of being resident or established in Turkey, will be considered in this context.

As per Article 11 of the Regulation, registration to the Data Registry system is required for data controllers that have more than 50 employees or a balance sheet of more than 25 million TRY (approx. 4 million USD). The deadline for registration was extended to 31.12.2019 with a decision of the Board held on the 5th of September. If you meet the above criteria, we strongly recommend that you fulfill your registration obligation on time unless the administrative fines of 20.000 Turkish liras to 1.000.000 Turkish liras may be imposed by the Board.
